Talking Zero Carbon With PlanetMark…

We’re incredibly proud to be involved in PlanetMark’s #ZeroCarbonTour!

Managing Director, Steve, talks about how sustainability has always been at the heart of everything we do and what we stand for, and how important it is to us to reduce our carbon usage year by year.

In 2009 we realised that there was a huge gap in the market – sustainability wasn’t being talked about. It wasn’t yet a buzz word, but we knew that it was the way forward. We established GreenZone to challenge market norms and to do something good in that space.

We’ve now been part of PlanetMark for 9 years, and each year we’re challenged to go further and to do more to reduce our carbon footprint. Over the past 9 years, in our journey towards net zero, we’ve implemented changes throughout the business, including:

  • Where we get our paper from
  • Our electricity supplier
  • Switching to LED lighting
  • Swapping our fossil fuel vehicles to electric vehicles

Net zero is the natural progression for us. We’ve measured our carbon footprint and reduced it each year for 9 years. We’ve been measuring our social value for 3 years now and are challenging ourselves to look at how good we are – are we really a company for good? What are we doing each year, and what else could we be doing?

It’s important for us to our take clients on the journey with us. Our team are keen to share new ways of working and new ways of thinking, as well as introducing PlanetMark to our clients. We’ve had fantastic take up from both our clients and our supply chain and it’s great to know that we’re working together towards a shared vision.

The Zero Carbon Tour is incredibly important. As a parent, I often think about the type of environment that my children will grow up in and the prospects that they’ll have. From a business perspective, this is of upmost importance too; at the end of the day, I run a business because I want to do some good.
