Sustainability & Social Value

We truly care for the world we clean and believe that every company – ourselves included – can do more for the environment; enhancing our planet, communities, and helping to leave a positive legacy for future generations.

We are an award-winning commercial cleaning company, proud to have won as many awards for the work we do protecting the planet and people, as we have for the exceptional standard of
cleaning we provide.

Being green is not just a bolt on or a nice to have, it’s central to how we do business and has been since day one. As positive disruptors in our industry, we have committed to year-on-year sustainability improvements since inception and constantly strive for a greener future.

We are following the SBTi definition of Net Zero to work towards our target of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2035, with at least a 50% reduction by 2030. Our commitment ensures we follow strict green operational and procurement processes, choosing suppliers, subcontractors, and corporate partnerships, with organisations who’s ESG goals align with our own.

We use BioHygiene products, the UK’s leading manufacturer of Biotech cleaning products and a company that shares our passion for sustainability and reducing the effect of climate change. The enzyme-based products are created from renewably and sustainably sourced plant extracts, replacing harmful, chemical products with environmental and sustainable biotech alternatives to improve human and environmental health. Products are 100% biodegradable.

We are very proud of our long-standing relationship with Delphis Eco who pioneered the first post use 100% recycled bottles in the UK. Using the Delphis range of cleaning solutions ensures we deliver effective cleaning, using plant-based products that leave no lasting damage to the planet or our people.

Washroom paper products used for GreenZone service delivery are manufactured by Metsa Tissue, who hold the Nordic Swan Eco Label – the highest certification for the tissue market.  Metsa produce high quality products using renewable fresh fibre from their own sustainably managed, northern forests.

We’re proud of our fully electric fleet of electric vehicles servicing our London based client sites, and our growing fleet of vehicles servicing those Nationally. We are continually reducing our emissions wherever commercially viable and encourage staff use of public transport whenever possible. We are a proud partner of Go Ultra Low – a joint government and industry campaign, supported by the Office of Zero Emission Vehicles, manufacturers and energy providers.

zero to landfill logo

We have a long-standing commitment to being #ZeroToLandfill. We work within the waste hierarchy to ensure our approach to waste and recycling is to first reduce, then reuse, then recycle. Any non-recyclable waste generated on client sites, and indeed our own, is safely incinerated. The electricity and heat captured from this process is sent to the National Grid providing heating and hot water to homes in the UK.

Measuring, Monitoring and Reducing Carbon

climeworks logo

Climeworks help fight climate change by using their direct air capture (DAC) technology to capture and reduce the atmospheric concentration of CO₂ by only using renewable energy, energy-from-waste, or other waste heat as energy sources. We are proud to facilitate the direct removal of carbon from the atmosphere through DAC on an annual basis.

planetmark logo

We’ve held the Planet Mark™ certification since 2011 and are incredibly proud to have been the first cleaning company to hold this accreditation. Through rigorous carbon footprint measurement and annual reporting, The Planet Mark™ provides audited, external validation that we are addressing and reducing our carbon footprint year on year.

Site Based Carbon Footprint Measurement – A ground-breaking industry first.  We offer a carbon footprint model to measure and verify carbon footprint at individual client sites. This is revolutionising the way GreenZone can be held accountable for, and manages our environmental impact to specific client sites.

Ecologi supports businesses to set eco goals, fund climate solutions, and reduce their carbon footprint. Through partnering with Ecologi, we have planted thousands of trees to help offset our carbon footprint. Each year we purchase carbon credits to help eradicate climate change, and through doing this have generated renewable solar energy in Egypt, as well as protected Peruvian rainforest.

We have partnered with Trees for Cities since our inception. They are the only UK charity working on a national and international scale to improve lives by planting trees in cities. Each year we make an annual donation that Trees for Cities use to fund tree planting projects.
