GreenZone and Ecologi; changing the world for the better!

Ecologi has been a force of nature when it comes to fighting climate change. Their mission? To inspire and empower businesses to accelerate global climate action. Partnering with them was a natural choice for GreenZone!

Who Are Ecologi?

Ecologi’s journey began when co-founder Elliot had a lightbulb moment over his morning coffee. He began wondering if he could put his coffee money towards fighting climate change. Sparking a deep dive into research, Elliot discovered that even small contributions can make a significant difference in addressing these urgent global issues.

What started as a humble subscription service for individuals has blossomed into a vibrant community of over 20,000 businesses and 40,000 members. Ecologi focuses on empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to take the lead in sustainability and climate action.

From tree planting to funding certified climate avoidance projects to calculating your business’ footprint, Ecologi is used by some of the world’s most prominent brands who all want to take climate action for our planet.  The goal is to help these businesses cut emissions and adopt eco-friendly practices, driving a green revolution in the business world.

Ecology have had an incredible impact on the world. Check out these outstanding statistics:

  • 76m+ trees funded.
  • 3m+ Tco2e avoided.
  • 20,000+ businesses signed up.
  • 3+ years of impact.

What Global Impact has Greenzone had?

Sustainability is at the core of everything that GreenZone do. Since joining forces with Ecologi in July 2022, we have contributed to some truly amazing numbers that we couldn’t be more proud of.

PLANTING PROGRESS: 2,110 TREES WORLDWIDE

The GreenZone Grove is at the root of our partnership with Ecologi, and something we’re incredibly proud of. Put simply, it’s a term we use for a collection of 1,000 trees gifted to us and grown on our behalf in Mozambique.

Since then, through Ecologi worldwide, we have funded ourselves, the planting of 1,110 trees both in the UK and the continent of Africa.

Our chosen projects help to provide jobs in the Mau Region of Southern Kenya, and the village of Changalane in Mozambique, as well as support thriving Mangrove systems in Madagascar and helping to save the Moroccan Fruit Trees in Morocco.

OVER 160 CARBON TONNES AVOIDED

Since we have been working with Ecologi, we have saved the world 160.2 tonnes of CO2 through projects in Egypt, Peru, and Brazil. To give you an example of how much CO2 that is, it’s the equivalent to 123 long haul flights, 481m2 of sea ice saved, or 397,456 miles in a car!

Key habitat resoration

Our collaboration with Ecologi means we can fund the restoration and conservation of key habitats such as wildflower meadows, wetlands, heathland, and woodland. By focusing on these diverse habitats, we aim to create a rich tapestry of landscapes that can sustain a thriving biodiversity. So far, GreenZone has helped to restore 55m2 of natural habitat!

Together, we can work towards preserving and enhancing the natural beauty and ecological richness of the UK for future generations to enjoy.

Blue carbon ecosystems

Did you know that coastal wetlands like salt marshes, mangroves, and seagrasses are superheroes when it comes to fighting climate change? These blue carbon ecosystems soak up carbon dioxide from the air and stash it away in the soil and sediment underwater. They can store up to five times more carbon than tropical forests can over time!

When we back blue carbon projects through Ecologi, we’re helping to protect and preserve these amazing coastal ecosystems.
